Turn the boost up to 7.5 psi and tune that line 3rd gear 1800 rpm (or so) WOT punch - tune the spool up (mid 12's AFR) and 6.5 psi by working the 5.0 and 7.5 psi lines (it uses both for 6.5). *Say your base boost is 6.5 psi for this example so I can make a point)* Take it on the road.stop and go driving and all.shoot for 14.7 all the way up to your highway crusing speed Get it to drive around a parking lot at low speeds without bucking or stalling Go to all the RPM points you can hit in neutral and tune no load to 14.7 I don't want to scare you guys away but this is how you do it right. I have my fuel map set up to lean out to 12.3-12.5 at 20 psi and above since its a given that I'll be on high quality fuel while running that much boost.Īs usual Jeff Lucius has some great info on his webpage and the next 2 pictures were take from here: Then mid 11's at 11-12 psi all the way up to your max safe boost on pump gas. Trevor used the following Target A/F rations:Īs soon as you romp on it and the car hits 1-2 psi you'll be in the very low 13's. On decelleration (very high vaccum) 15.5 to 16.0/1 can help to eliminate lean exhasut backfiring At wide open throttle target from 12/1 (11.8 to 12.2) For Cruising and light load target 14.7/1 (14.0 to 15.0) You would think that the target Airfuel ratio would be common knowledge but in every thread I have seen people argue over it.īelow I what I beleive is correct based only off of books. SLIGHTLY CONTROVERSIAL TARGET AIR FUEL RATIOS: 2.5V = 1.0 Lambda = 14.7 A/F Ratio.Īfter this change my wideband display matches what the MAP ECU shows. The number in the second row corresponds with a lambda value in the second row.įor example 1.4V =. This Chart shows the relationship between voltage and lambda Techedge lists the voltage conversion on thier webpage. Here is how I made my own 02.cfg file for SVout signal of TechEdge Wideband. SVout is not quite as accurate but it is compatable with my display. WBlin is the The best one but you have to re-pin the MAP ECU connector and is not compatable with my wideband. I am using a Tech Edge Wideband and it didn't match any of these. The map ECU comes with the following wideband tables just re-name them to 02.cfg You need to Modify the 02.cfg file in the MAP-CAL directory to match your wideband. You really need to datalog the Wideband O2 sensor on the MAP ECU, this lets you know which cell in the fuel table needs to be tweaked.Įvery wideband seems to use a different voltage value for lambda values (Lamda is converted to A/F ratio automatically by map ECU for Gasoline) I can't imagine trying to do this w/o a wideband O2 Sensor, DON"T TUNE A MAP ECU W/O A WIDEBAND. DO NOT use pins 5&6 on the ECU wiring, like I tried, :rollreyes Polarity doesn't matter because its just a reistance based circuit.ĮDIT: This wiring is done UNDER THE HOOD, You cut the wires going to the MAF Sensor. I am Quoting Trevor in this thread for wiring pin out Detailsįor ANY year the IAT Sensor goes between pins 5 & 6 on the MAF sensor connector.ĥ is Black.6 is Red w/Blue. Performance Motor Research the Makers of the MAP ECU: The biggest improvment is that you can view the software in full screen, the older versions of the software you have to resize your desktop to make it bigger. If you have version 2.1 don't upgrade to 2.3 At the least it will mess up your fuel MAP and it might not be compatible with hardware. If you have version 2.2 I recommend downloading the 2.3 beta version of the software. SupraForums had dozens people with problems that were cause by OEM sensors being off, With the stock MAS it didn't cause major problems but the MAP ECU seems to make the car more sensitive to problems with OEM sensors. verify that your narrowand O2 sensors are fuctioning correctly. verify that your coolant tmepurature sensor is fuctioning correctlyĥ. Verify that your IAC (idle air controller) is functioning correctlyĤ. This can cause lots of problems if it is out of facoty specificationsģ. Verify the Throttle position sensor is set correctly per factory service manual. Install a Wideband O2 sensor, Don't try to tune the MAP ECU without oneĢ. So I thought I would post this to help others.īEFORE you install your MAP ECU you should do the following:ġ. I keep having a hard time finding threads with good tuning info and they are usually cluttered up, The MAP ecu seems to not get much love on 3SI.
